Hi, my name is April Kauffman. I graduated from Lehigh University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. I spent 4 years working as an actuary in the Pennsylvania and Hawaii Insurance Departments. In 1993, I was blessed to begin my second career as a stay at home mom. My husband and I have two grown sons, one who lives and works in Charlotte, NC with his wife and another who works in Elkin, NC and lives in Statesville, NC. We also have a daughter who is attending Chapel Hill and a third son who is currently at Fred T. Foard High School. In 2011, I graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Middle Grades Education. This is my 11th year of teaching. Previously, I was an 8th grade math/Math 1 teacher at Grandview for 5 years. After a year away from Hickory Public Schools, I was thrilled to be welcomed back and am currently in my fifth year here at Northview. I am looking forward to a fantastic COVID FREE year!
